We have fresh information that the only available pounding machine in Sustainche Farm village allocated at the Primary School broke down. At the moment there is no mechanized alternative for pounding mahangu. The Sustainche Farm family already earlier thought about investing in a Sustainche Farm based mahangu pounding machine and offer pounding services for village neighbours. However, we would need electricity to run this thing. Perhaps we should discuss this topic here as a contribution to diversify Sustainche Farm family’s income.

Lisa also made an interesting observation in the Pewa Natural Cosmetic Manufactures shop in Ongwediva’s Shoprite complex / David Shikomba Park, which refers to the topic of ‘diversification of income’ and marula oil production.

Pewa sells 50 ml of ‘Marula Massage Oil’ for N$ 25 which is about Euro 2.50. So far - so good. However this marula massage oil is not 100% pure marula massage oil as we produce it on Sustainche Farm™. Pewa’s ingredients read as follows: marula oil, vitamin E, lanolin, beeswax, purified agua and lavender oil. Lisa assumes that there is more lavender oil, purified agua and vitamin E in the bottle than anything else 🙁 and that Sustainche Farm™ marula massage oil is by far better natural product ! 😉

Please give Lisa your thoughts 🙂

do you mean, that pure marula oil from Sustainche Farm should be more expensive than the Pewa oil? If you want to sell the pure oil you need a good declaration on the bottle.
A lot of people like an massage oil with a kind of good smell.

Another topic to think about is the “smell” (... which might also be a question, which clients shall be addressed ...): Dear Sustainche Farm Community, would you prefer the original marula smell, or would you rather enjoy marula oil with an additional smell of (for example) lemon ... ?

If the marula oil is for massage, I thing it is good that we add a lemon smell or any other smell. if no smell added and use it in its original you will end up smelling like delicious food.

on some German beauty farms you can choose the smell among some basic smell-directions. Afterwards a few drops of this smell will be mixed with the oil.
