Sustainche Farm™ products: The Gathemann Restaurant Episode & Project Voting # 3

Gathemann House 1989Restaurant Gathemann is for sure among of the most esteemed gourmet locations in Namibia. The restaurant is hosted in the historical Gathemann house in Windhoek, Independence Avenue. Tatekulu M-Sustain™ knows ‘The Gathemann’ since 1989, and it is no secret that during the 1990ies generations of students needed to pass what was called the ‘Gathemann Examination’, an early ‘Slow Food®’ certificate, if you wish to say so … 🙂

Mr. Urs P. Gamma is Restaurant Gathemann’s owner and chef de cuisine. Tatekulu M-Sustain™ always enjoyed and admired Mr. Gamma’s outstanding creativity. Moreover, while both grow old and either the beard or hair turned gray, promotion of regional and local Namibian products became a major point of discussion among Urs Gamma and M-Sustain™. Well, regional and local Namibian food specialities to be offered to demanding international tourists are not only a challenge in terms of ‘finding’, but at the same time is also a matter of supply.

Pounding Room threshed mahangu pearls 6_4Let’s make no mistake: Sustainche Farm™ is too small to supply Gathemann Restaurant with Owambo food specialities on a daily basis. However, and following the Sustainche Farm calendar, it is Owambo Gold Marula Oilpossible to make available rather small quantities, which – as a first step – could include mahangu and marula oil. During M-Sustain’s™ last visit to Windhoek in March 2012 Urs Gamma expressed his great interest in these good, clean and fair Sustainche Farm™ specialities, thus supporting the Sustainche Farm™ Project and the worldwide Slow Food® movement !

So, let’s find out what the Sustainche Farm™ community thinks and ask the following question:

“Do you like to see Sustainche Farm™ in Northern Namibia supplying small quantities of mahangu (pearl millet) and marula oil to Restaurant Gathemann in Windhoek ?”

Feel free to use the reply function for more extended proposals.

It goes without saying that the Sustainche Farm™ family
headed by Meme Tresia & Tatekulu Fillipus will have the last word ! 😉
